CHIEF KALABA APPLAUDS GOVERNMENT

18th MARCH 2019

CHIEF Kalaba of Mansa district in Luapula Province says the area has a great opportunity than ever before to develop going by President Edgar Lungu’s gesture of many ministerial appointments from the province.

Chief Kalaba said the Ministers from Luapula Province serving in President Lungu’s Cabinet should take advantage of being in government to help develop the area.

The traditional leader, whose chiefdom falls under Bahati constituency, said President Lungu had exhibited a considerable amount of love for Luapula Province by including in his Cabinet a good number of Members of Parliament from the province.

Chief Kalaba was speaking at his palace when Minister in the Office of the Vice President, Sylvia Chalikosa led a delegation of senior government officials to pay a courtesy call on him.

He said if Members of Parliament from the area, holding ministerial positions failed to perform, they would be betraying the people.

However, the chief complained of the poor state of Kalaba-Musaila road and lack of a secondary school in the area.

Ms Chalikosa was in Bahati constituency with Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe, Housing and Infrastructure Development Permanent Secretary, Charles Mushota, Public Service Management Division Permanent Secretary, Bornface Chimbwali and Lunga Member of Parliament, Emerine Kabanshi, to inspect the 79kilometer Kalaba-Musaila road where two bridges had been washed away.

She said that Government was committed to developing all the parts of the country and that Kalaba-Musaila road was already being worked.

The affected bridges are Lukangaba and Kalubila which are 4 kilometers apart both of which are currently undergoing repair after the Office of the Vice President had engaged the Road Development Agency (RDA).
