The 18th Meeting of the COMESA Ministers of Foreign Affairs was officially opened this morning by Her Honour, the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, Mrs. Mutale Nalumango at the Mulungushi Conference Center in Lusaka.
The Meeting which is ahead of the 22nd Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held on Thursday, 8th June, 2023 was attended by 18 out of the 21 Member States of the regional bloc.

In delivering her statement, the Vice President indicated that the gathering was charged with the responsibility of addressing peace, security and stability in the COMESA region and that no meaningful integration and sustainable development can be realised in the absence of peace.
The Vice President also expressed appreciation to the Ministers present as part of their mission was to explore solutions to address some of the ongoing conflict in the region.
And COMESA Secretary General, Her Excellency, Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe thanked the Vice President for officiating at the opening of this important policy organ of COMESA and also thanked the Honourable Ministers of Foreign Affairs for their continued commitment towards the attainment of peace, security and stability in the region.
