The Disaster Management Act No. 13 of 2010 continues to be the legal framework guiding the disaster management operations in the country. The OVP in the last quarter of 2016 received the draft Statutory Instrument on Volunteers from the Ministry of Justice for final review.  The SI seeks to provide a legal framework for the engagement of volunteers for Disaster Risk Management.

In accordance with the Constitution, His Excellency the President is required to address the National Assembly on Progress being made by the Executive in the application of the National Values and Principles.The Office of the Vice President, Parliamentary Business Division will continue facilitating its presentation to the National Assembly.

In line with the revisions being undertaken by the National Assembly with regard to the Parliamentary Standing Orders, it is expected that the conduct of Government Parliamentary Business will have to change in conformity with newly agreed Standing Orders.
