Department of Planning and Information

Mandate:

The mandate of the Department of Planning and Information is planning, monitoring and evaluating of the implementation of Disaster Management, Resettlement, Parliamentary Business and National Guidance and Religious Affairs Policies, programmes and activities, to enhance service delivery as well as facilitate the development and implementation of appropriate interventions. In addition, the Department coordinates the formulation and review of relevant policies and legislation overseen by the Office of the Vice President and the budget formulation process to provide appropriate operational framework and facilitate resource mobilisation.

Functions:

The Department performs the following specific functions:

  • Coordinate the preparation of the Office of the Vice-President Annual budget and monitor budget performance;
  • Develop and review policies and legislation;
  • Coordinate Cabinet and Parliamentary Business;
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of various policies and programmes under the Office;
  • Coordinate planning, implementation and review of the Strategic plan for the Office;
  • Develop, harmonise and implement a comprehensive M&E system for effective deployment of the institutional strategy;
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive information management system;
  • Coordinate research programmes;
  • Undertake the compilation and publication of reports and documents; and
  • Formulate project proposals for the mobilization of technical assistance and financial and other resources.
